Overview
The Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi is Ireland's principal mission in India, on Malcha Marg in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave. It serves the north and east of the country, with the Consulate General in Mumbai covering the west. For Indian travellers it is the route for Irish visas — Ireland sits outside the Schengen area, so an Irish visa is applied for separately from any Schengen visa — and for Irish citizens in northern and eastern India it is the consular contact for passports and emergencies.
Visa Services
Indian residents of northern and eastern India apply for Irish short-stay and long-stay visas through the New Delhi embassy, using Ireland's online application system and the appointed visa-application centre for document submission. The embassy also issues passports and provides consular assistance to Irish citizens travelling in its region.
Service Area
Northern and eastern India. The Consulate General of Ireland in Mumbai holds the western states; honorary consuls support other cities. The public phone line runs Monday to Friday, 10:00–12:00 and 14:30–16:30.
