Overview
The German Consulate General in Bangalore serves Karnataka and Kerala — a jurisdiction anchored by Bangalore's position as India's technology capital and one of Asia's largest IT hubs. Bangalore (Bengaluru) hosts the headquarters or major campuses of Infosys, Wipro, TCS, and hundreds of technology startups, as well as Bosch India's headquarters, Siemens India operations, and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The consulate serves a substantial German business community drawn by India's IT ecosystem and supports the growing flow of German professionals, students, researchers, and tourists visiting southern India. Kerala, the consulate's other state, is India's premier wellness tourism destination (Ayurveda, backwaters, hill stations).

Trade & Export Support
Bangalore is the centre of Indo-German technology cooperation — German companies maintain major India operations here (Bosch, Siemens, SAP, Continental, Schaeffler), while Indian IT companies serve German corporate clients from Bangalore campuses. The consulate facilitates trade in IT services, automotive components, aerospace (HAL, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, is headquartered here), precision engineering, biotechnology, and renewable energy. Kerala's spice trade, seafood exports, and tourism industry add to the commercial profile.
Business Support
The consulate works with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Karnataka's Department of IT and Biotechnology, and Kerala's investment promotion agencies to support bilateral business relationships. Bangalore's startup ecosystem, tech parks (Electronic City, Whitefield, Manyata Tech Park), and research institutions create continuous commercial opportunities.
Cultural & Educational Programs
The consulate supports cultural exchange through the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore, one of India's most active German cultural centres. Bangalore's universities (IISc, IIT Bangalore, Indian Statistical Institute) and Kerala's institutions maintain research partnerships with German universities. DAAD scholarship programmes and academic exchanges connect southern Indian and German research communities.
Service Area
The consulate covers Karnataka and Kerala. For other Indian states, contact the consulates general in Chennai (Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry), Mumbai (western India), Kolkata (eastern India), or the Embassy in New Delhi.
