Overview
The Consulate General of Canada in Chandigarh covers northern India from the Elante Office Complex — the post closest to Punjab, the single largest source region for Indian migration to Canada. Few corridors are as dense: Punjabi students, skilled workers, and family-sponsorship and permanent-residence applicants make the northern states a centre of gravity for the Canada visa flow. In-person consular services are currently suspended, with passport, citizenship and emergency help for Canadians handled by the High Commission in New Delhi. Applications to Canada are not filed at a counter here — they run online through IRCC with biometrics at VFS Global.
Visa Services
Study permits, work permits, visitor visas, and family-sponsorship and permanent-residence applications from residents of northern India are submitted online to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), with biometrics at VFS Global centres. The consulate does not accept walk-in visa applications.
