Overview
The Embassy of Canada in Beijing manages the bilateral relationship between Canada and China — one of Canada's most important in Asia. China is Canada's second-largest trading partner. Canadian exports to China include canola, wheat, pulses, seafood, lumber, minerals, potash and LNG. The embassy coordinates consulates general in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Hong Kong. The large Chinese-Canadian diaspora and substantial Chinese student population in Canada drive significant consular and visa activity.
Visa Services
The embassy processes visa applications for Chinese citizens travelling to Canada. Canada's visa system includes tourist, student (study permit), work (work permit), business and family sponsorship categories. Applications are submitted through VAC (Visa Application Centre).
Consular Services

Trade & Export Support
The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service supports Canadian exporters in China. Key sectors include agriculture and agri-food (canola, wheat, pulses, pork, beef, seafood), forestry and lumber, mining and minerals, clean technology, education and financial services.
Cultural & Educational Programs
Canada is one of the most popular study destinations for Chinese students, with hundreds of thousands enrolled at Canadian universities and colleges. The embassy promotes Canadian education through EduCanada. Cultural exchange includes film, music and Indigenous arts.
